Sa bisperas ng paggunita sa ika-54 na anibersaryo ng deklarasyon ng Martial Law, lalahok ang Partido Manggagawa (PM) sa Lakbay Pananagutan ng People’s Assembly sa ibat-ibang institusyon tulad ng Batasan, Korte Suprema, at Edsa Shrine ngayong Setyembre 20 upang igiit na ang laban kontra diktadura ay hindi lamang pag-alala sa nakaraan—ito ay laban din sa mga anyo ng pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan na nararanasan ng manggagawa sa kasalukuyan.

 

“Manggagawa laban sa diktadura, korapsyon at dinastiya!” ang paninindigan at panawagan ng PM.

 

“Ang Martial Law ay hindi dapat maging simpleng history lesson na inaalala tuwing Setyembre. Para sa manggagawa, may malinaw itong aral: kapag concentrated ang political at economic power sa iilan at mahina ang democratic institutions at organized labor, madaling maabuso ang kapangyarihan,” pahayag ni PM Chairperson Renato Magtubo.

 

Kasabay nito, bibigyang-diin ng PM sa Lakbay Pananagutan ang dalawang partikular na panawagan: “Trabahong endo at mababang sweldo ay diktadura sa manggagawa!” at “Paghadlang sa unyonismo, diktadura sa manggagawa!”

 

Ayon sa grupo, ginagamit nito ang salitang “diktadura” sa mga panawagang ito upang idiin ang kawalan ng tunay na bargaining power ng maraming manggagawa kapag insecure ang trabaho, kulang ang sahod, at nahahadlangan ang kanilang karapatang mag-organisa.

 

“Demokrasya cannot stop at the ballot box. Dapat may demokrasya rin sa workplace. Kung takot kang mawalan ng trabaho dahil contractual ka, kung kulang ang sweldo para mabuhay nang disente, o kung ang pag-uunyon ay sinasagkaan, napakaliit ng kapangyarihan ng manggagawa sa mga desisyong direktang nakakaapekto sa kanyang buhay,” ani Magtubo.

 

Para sa PM, magkaugnay ang laban kontra political dynasties at korapsyon at ang pagsusulong ng workers’ rights. Kapwa nakasentro ang mga usaping ito sa tanong kung sino ang may kapangyarihan, sino ang may boses, at sino ang nananagot.

 

“Never Again should therefore mean more than never again to Martial Law. It should also mean never again to the concentration and abuse of power, never again to attacks on democratic rights, and never again to a system where workers remain powerless despite creating the country’s wealth,” dagdag ni Magtubo.

 

Sa paggunita ng Setyembre 21, nananawagan ang PM na gawing buhay na bahagi ng pagtatanggol sa demokrasya ang regular at disenteng trabaho, living wage, malayang pag-uunyon at collective bargaining, pananagutan sa korapsyon, at mas malawak na partisipasyon ng mamamayan sa pamamahala.

 

“54 years after Martial Law, malinaw ang hamon: huwag hayaang bumalik ang awtoritaryanismo sa pulitika—at huwag hayaang manatili ang kawalan ng boses at kapangyarihan ng manggagawa sa lugar-paggawa. Manggagawa laban sa diktadura, korapsyon at dinastiya!”

PM Marks Ninoy Aquino Day, Links Martial Law’s Ghosts to Today’s Ghost Projects and Political Dynasties

The nation marks the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. today — a crime whose full circumstances remain unresolved to this day. For the Partido Manggagawa, this should not be a day of ceremony and long weekends alone. It should be a day of reckoning: which parts of the old system of plunder and impunity are still with us, and who continues to pay the price?

 

“Ninoy was killed because he tried to end a system that thrives on unaccountable power. Forty-three years later, that same system survives — no longer in the form of a corrupt dictatorship, but in the form of systemic corruption and proliferation of political dynasties,” said Ka Rene Magtubo, Chairperson of the Partido Manggagawa. 

 

Department of Finance data shows the Philippine economy lost between P42.3 billion and P118.5 billion to “ghost” flood control projects from 2023 to 2025. For his part, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson disclosed that a total of ₱1.939 trillion for flood control programs spanning three administrations from 2011 to 2025 was allocated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and supposes that around 35% to 40% of this multi-trillion-peso fund may have been lost to systemic corruption.

 

“Hundreds of thousands of jobs could have been created and better public services provided to our people had the funds not been stolen,” stressed Magtubo.

 

Compounding the theft, 67 members of Congress were themselves contractors on their own state-funded projects in 2022 — a conflict of interest the system allowed to operate in plain sight. “This is the real twin defect in our governance: the very officials tasked with safeguarding public funds are the ones profiting from them,” said Magtubo. 

 

“It mirrors exactly what the Pasig RTC is now doing against Wage Order 27 — an authority meant to uphold the law instead of violating it,” Magtubo added, referring to the pending injunction against the NCR minimum wage increase. 

 

The scandal also exposes a deeper structural rot: there is no genuine political freedom while political dynasties dominate every branch of government. Many of the officials, contractors, and enablers named in the flood control probe are bound by family ties spanning Congress, local government, and the contracting industry itself — allowing public funds to be recycled within the same clans instead of reaching the public they are meant to serve. 

 

This is precisely why Partido Manggagawa has long pushed for a genuine anti-political dynasty law: without it, elections change faces, but not the families who control both the public purse and public policy. 

 

Magtubo stressed that every peso stolen through ghost projects is a peso denied to social services, decent wages, and effective labor law enforcement. “While business groups and some officials claim the economy ‘cannot afford’ a wage hike, billions of pesos continue flowing into phantom projects that deliver nothing concrete for the people. That is where public anger belongs — not against workers simply asking for a wage that covers daily survival.” 

 

The Partido Manggagawa is calling for: 

 

§ Full accountability for those involved in the flood control scam — not only lawyers and lower-level staff, but the principals in Congress and the executive branch; 

§ Abolition of the “allocables” funding system that remains open to the same abuse; 

§ Passage of a genuine anti-political dynasty law, to break the family monopolies over public office and public funds that make scandals like this possible; 

§ Immediate lifting of the injunction against Wage Order 27, as proof that government prioritizes workers over businesses fearful of a wage increase; 

§ Legislation of a national minimum wage that removes the process from wage boards easily influenced by the same interests behind the ghost projects. 

 

“Remembering Ninoy should not end with fighting for political freedom. It must also include the fight for economic freedom — against corruption, against poverty, and against a system that continues to impoverish workers while enriching the few,” Magtubo concluded.

Nakakahiya kung P2,000 ayuda at 2 preso lang ang maging highlight ng SONA 2026

Nakakahiya ang ikalimang SONA ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr. kung ang magiging laman lamang nito ay ang P2,000 ayuda sa ilalim ng Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food and Transport (UPLIFT) program para labanan ang nararansang krisis sa ekonomiya, at 2 presong nakakulong dahil sa pagkakasangkot sa flood control scam.

 

Ayon ito sa Partido Manggagawa (PM) na kabilang sa mga grupo ng manggagawa na magsasagawa ng kilos-protesta ngayon araw ng SONA.

 

Matatandaang bago ang kanyang SONA ay nag-anunsyo ang Pangulo ng panibagong financial assistance na nagkakahalaga ng P2,000 mula July hanggang December para sa mahihirap at sa tinawag niyang “malapit nang maging mahirap”, terminong naging mainit na usap-usapan sa social media. 

 

Isang taon naman matapos ang kanyang “mahiya naman kayo” na mensahe kaugnay ng korapsyon sa flood control sa nakaraang SONA ay dalawa pa lamang ang nasa kulungan – sina Senador Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. at Jinggoy Estrada. Samantalang ang dalawa pang nakakulong na sina Senador Rodante Marcoleta at dating Kongresman Mike Defensor ay nahaharap naman sa ibang kaso ng plunder na may kinalaman sa hindi idineklarang kontribusyon noong nakaraang eleksyon.

 

Una nito ay nanawagan ang PM na upang hindi maging SONAkakahiya ang ikalimang SONA ni PBBM ay agaran at pangmatagalang solusyon laban sa lumalalang cost-of-living crisis ang dapat ilatag at aksyunan.

 

Ayon kay Renato Magtubo, Pangulo ng PM, una dito ang sertipikasyon ng P200 na legislated wage hike at pagsasabatas ng National Minimum Wage na parehong nakabinbin sa ngayon Kongreso; pagrepaso sa Oil Deregulation Law, Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) at Value Added Tax (VAT); public employment program at iba pang reporma na makapagpapagaan sa buhay ng mga Pilipino. 

 

Malinaw aniya sa resulta ng dalawang magkahiwalay na survey ng Pulse Asia at EON-Tangere bago ang SONA na ang mas marami sa listahan ng gustong marinig ng mga Pinoy sa SONA ni BBM ay ang tungkol sa presyo, sweldo, trabaho, kahirapan, at iba pang economic concerns.

Workers are the ones subsidizing government and business—Partido Manggagawa

 

“Workers are the ones providing subsidies to both government and business, yet we are the last ones to receive benefits and services,” stated Partido Manggagawa (PM) on the eve of Labor Day, countering the prevailing narrative that it is the government that subsidizes the poor.

 

“There are various forms of limited and patronage-based assistance, but the funds for these ultimately come from workers themselves. Even corporate profit, after taxes, is derived from labor. Everything comes from workers, yet BBM’s response to us this Labor Day is silence—we are being ghosted,” protested PM Chair Renato Magtubo.

 

Magtubo further explained that, as consumers, millions of workers pay regressive taxes such as excise taxes and value-added tax (VAT) multiple times on the goods and services they purchase. As metered customers of Meralco and other distribution utilities, they effectively subsidize the electricity bills of poorer households. As income earners, they pay personal income taxes once they exceed the exemption threshold. And as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), they remit billions of dollars to support their families’ consumption.

 

Labor groups are demanding a ₱200 wage increase and the enactment of a national minimum wage law. However, Malacañang and business groups continue to uphold a policy of wage restraint despite a ₱155 erosion in the real value of the minimum wage in the National Capital Region (NCR).

 

PM, under the Nagkaisa Labor Coalition, will join the National Wage Coalition in a unified WELGA march tomorrow morning, beginning at Welcome Rotonda and España Boulevard and proceeding to Mendiola. WELGA stands for: Wage Hike Now Toward a National Living Wage; Eliminate E-VAT and Review Income Tax; Impose Taxes on Excess Wealth and Profits; Make Prices Affordable; and Arrest All Corrupt Officials.

 

The Labor Day protests are nationwide. In Cebu, around 1,000 members of PM and SENTRO will assemble at 8:00 a.m. at Sto. Rosario Church before proceeding to Metro Gaisano on Colon Street. The group will then join other labor organizations for a joint program at Fuente Osmeña at approximately 10:00 a.m. In Bacolod, the PM chapter will hold an indoor assembly from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m., followed by a march along San Juan Street corner Gonzaga Street, and then proceed to Bacolod Plaza for a joint program with other workers’ groups. In Iloilo, PM will join United Labor in a march starting from the flyover in front of UP Visayas at 3:00 p.m., proceeding to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol for a program lasting until 5:00 p.m.

 

PM is also advancing an anti-war position, asserting that the United States–Israel alliance must be held accountable for its war of aggression against Iran and its impact on the global economy. Meanwhile, on the issue of corruption, PM Secretary General Judy Miranda emphasized that the struggle for good governance remains integral to labor’s advocacy, alongside urgent economic concerns such as wages and employment.

 

“All corrupt officials must be jailed, whether from the Duterte camp or the Marcos camp. Sure, bring down Sara—but also bring down the prices of basic goods,” Miranda stated.

“May iba’t-ibang klase ng limitado at patronage na ayuda, pero galing din naman sa manggagawa ang pondo sa mga ito. Kahit ang yaman ng mga korporasyon, after taxes, ay sa labor din galing. Lahat ay galing sa manggagawa, pero ghosting ang tugon ni BBM sa amin ngayong Labor Day,” PM Chair Renato Magtubo protested.

Meanwhile, on the issue of corruption, PM Secretary General Judy Miranda said the fight for good governance will always be a part of labor’s advocacy, along with topmost and urgent economic concerns like wages and jobs.

The People Power uprising at EDSA was not the final stop for the working class. This was according to Partido Manggagawa (PM), whose members participated in today’s commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power under the banner of Siklab and the Trillion Peso March Movement (TPMM).

 

“The spirit of people power must be sustained and further strengthened because it remains the way to achieve genuine democracy that has been smashed up by perennial corruption and dynastic rule,” said Renato Magtubo, Chairperson of PM.

 

Magtubo added: “There can be no decent jobs without a decent government, and reform is meaningless if it does not lead to systemic change.”

 

PM is with TPMM in demanding accountability against all corrupt officials and in pushing for an end to political dynasties and oligarchic control of the economy.

 

He explained that over the past 40 years, successive administrations merely shared responsibility in neglecting the problems of poverty and inequality due to neoliberal policies that favored capitalists over workers, such as labor-only contracting (endo) and cheap wages under the provincial rate system.

 

“The result: the economy grew, but the lives of workers remained below the poverty level. Labor productivity increased by 71%, yet workers’ real wages rose by only 5%. Between 2000 and 2020, the Philippines lagged behind the rest of ASEAN in terms of real minimum wage growth,” Magtubo added.

 

On her part, PM Secretary General Judy Miranda said the spirit of people power must also remain alive among women in order to attain greater freedoms, as they continue to bear heavy burdens in life.

 

She noted that a significant portion of the working-age female population are “fulltime nanays”, while those who are employed face wage gaps and harassment. At home, women carry the responsibilities of childcare and education, food provision, and healthcare.

 

“We thus reiterate our call that all those involved in corruption must be held accountable because the funds stolen from the public treasury should have been utilized for services that women and children need,” Miranda said.

 

Following the commemoration of EDSA People Power, women’s groups are now preparing for the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

Ang People Power na naganap sa Edsa ay hindi tapos na pasada. Ayon ito sa Partido Manggagawa (PM) na lalahok bukas kasama ng Trillion Peso March Movement (TPMM) sa buong araw na paggunita ng Ika-40 Anibersaryo ng Edsa People Power.

“Kailangang manatili at palakasin pa ang diwa ng people power dahil ito pa rin ang paraan upang makamit ang tunay na demokrasya na sinalaula ng korapsyon at paghaharing dinastiya,” pahayag ni Renato Magtubo, Tagapangulo ng PM. 

Dagdag pa ni Magtubo: “Walang disenteng trabaho kung walang disenteng gobyerno at hindi makabuluhan ang reporma kung hindi tutungo sa pagbabago ng sistema.”

Sa nakalipas na 40 taon ay nag-ambagan lang umano sa pagpapabaya sa problema ng kahirapan at inekwalidad ang ibat-ibang administrasyon dahil sa neoliberal na mga polisiyang ipinatupad na mas pabor sa kapitalista kaysa sa manggagawa katulad ng endo at provincial rate na sweldo. 

“Resulta: Lumago ang ekonomiya subalit naiwan sa ilalim poverty level ang buhay ng manggagawa. Umangat ng 71% ang labor productivity pero ang real wage ng manggagawa ay napako sa 5% lamang. Sa pagitan ng 2000-2020, kulelat ang Pilipinas sa pagtaas ng real minimum wage sa buong ASEAN,” dagdag pa ni Magtubo.

Ayon naman kay Judy Miranda, Secretary General ng PM, people power din ang diwa na dapat manatili sa hanay ng kababaihan para makamit ang mas maraming kalayaan dahil nananatiling mabigat ang dala nilang pasanin sa buhay.

Malaking bahagi ng working age population ng kababaihan ay mga full time nanay, habang sa mga may trabaho ay kaharap naman nila ang problema ng wage gap at harassment, habang sa tahanan ay karga ang problema sa pag-aalaga at edukasyon ng mga bata, pagkain, at healthcare. 

“Nararapat lang managot lahat ng sangkot sa kurakot dahil ang pondong ninanakaw sa kabang bayan ay dapat para sa serbisyong kailangan ng kababaihan,” pahayag ni Miranda. 

Pagkatapos ng komemorasyon ng Edsa People Power ay naghahanda naman umano ang hanay ng kababaihan para sa selebrasyon ng International Women’s Day sa March 8. ###

Labor year ender 2025: Workers faced corruption and affordability issues

 

Twenty three typhoons hit the country in 2025, of which Tino was the most damaging in terms of loss of lives. Millions were affected by the heavy flooding in many areas due to the frequent typhoons and rains. This contrasted with the boast of President Bongbong Marcos in his State of the Nation Address about more than 5,000 flood control projects implemented by his administration. The disconnect between expectation and reality unleashed a perfect storm of outrage over the corruption attending ghost or substandard flood control projects.

 

The controversy sparked back-to-back massive rallies on September 21 and November 30. While the November protests were smaller in the NCR compared to that of September, it was, however, more widespread with many cities holding activities. The anger over corruption cut across different classes but much of the energy for the mass actions came from students. In this, the Philippines had parallels to movements in Indonesia and Nepal with symbols like One Piece and triggers like nepo babies. The Catholic Church was also a key coordinator of the movement aside from a major mobilizer of protesters. In this, the Philippines differed from other anti-corruption protests elsewhere.

 

The year ended with no one found guilty for the multi-billion flood control scandal. While several millions and a few luxury cars have been returned to the national treasury, such are a drop in the bucket compared to the P546 billion spent for almost 10,000 ineffective flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025.

 

The explosion of corruption controversy sparked a political crisis for the administration, with presidential cousin House Speaker Martin Romualdez resigning. The chief of the armed forces exposed alleged attempts to entice generals to withdraw their support for the administration amid the anti-corruption mass actions. The political infighting between the president and vice president escalated even as both were embroiled in their own corruption scandals. For many Filipinos, the polarization is along dynastic lines, not economic class or political ideology.

 

Even though workers joined the anti-corruption protests, they did so as individuals and not as an organized force. Unions did take the initiative in calling for an anti-corruption protest in Makati in early November. Workers in the formal sector disproportionately contribute taxes to the public coffers so they should be among the most affected by leakage and waste in the national budget. Further, workers, both formal and informal, bear the brunt of the impact of climate change—from loss of pay due to typhoons to extreme heat in the workplace. And yet, for workers, pervasive outrage over corruption has yet to be expressed as visible protest.

 

While traditional workers’ issues such as wage hikes and labor contractualization remain pressing concerns, popular struggles have yet to erupt, unlike the anti-corruption protests. Filipinos faced their own affordability crisis as exemplified in the pervasive indignation over Department of Trade and Industry’s provocative P500 budget for a noche buena. The controversy expressed the popular perception that wages and income for ordinary Filipinos have not coped up with inflation.

 

The affordability crisis sustained organized labor’s campaign for a legislated wage hike. At the last minute, labor’s demand succeeded led to the House of Representatives passing a P200 bill which however conflicted with a P100 version in the Senate, which had been pending since 2024. The House and Senate did not reconcile the two wage bills and thus workers were again left with nothing as Congress closed to give way to the newly elected one.

 

In the wake of the defeat of the legislated salary increase, regional wage boards ordered minimum wage hikes ranging from P20 to P60 in the latter half of 2025. Yet, the highest monthly minimum wage in Metro Manila—using the mean of 22 workdays—is still less than half of the Asia Floor Wage Alliance’s estimate of P36,200 living wage based on a 3,000-calorie daily diet per adult. Moreover, the minimum wage in all regions fall below the government’s own poverty threshold. This means that minimum wage earners are working poor. It was thus no surprise that Filipinos flared up in disbelief when authorities insisted that P500 was enough to cover a simple Christmas feast.

 

Inflation will persist into 2026 and will erode the purchasing power of formal and informal workers. High oil prices will be sustained by the war by Russia in Ukraine and a new one brewing in Venezuela by the US. Meanwhile climate change will continue to disrupt agricultural and manufacturing supply chains, pushing production costs up.  Thus, affordability and corruption will remain hot button concerns for workers in 2026. Workers will need to scale up their game if they want change to happen next year.

 

How can officials, legislators and contractors be held accountable for the multibillion-peso corruption in flood control projects? How can this happen under the current administration which is alleged to be complicit in the scandal? This continues to be a challenge for the anti-corruption movement.

 

How can workers surmount their doubts about the efficacy of collective action? Can labor groups inspire and mobilize the millions of unorganized workers to fight for popular demands like a wage hike and regular jobs? This remains the question for the labor movement.

 

As the anti-corruption protests show, only visible mass actions in the streets, not noise on social media, can nudge the government to do something. As protests elsewhere bare, only sustained mass struggles can bring about systemic change. Surveys reveal that Filipinos are hoping for better times in 2026. To make those hopes real, we need to make collective action among our new year’s resolutions.

Pakikiisa sa Trillion Peso March Movement Nationwide Rallies

Walang ginhawa sa patuloy na pagnanakaw sa bayan. Ito ang araw-araw na reyalidad na kinakaharap ng kabataan mula Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao.

 

Ang Samahan ng Kabataang Lumalaban (SKL), kasama ang iba pang youth and people’s organizations sa Trillion Peso March Movement, ay muling lalabas sa lansangan upang ipahayag na sobra na, tama na ang sistematikong korapsyon na sumisira sa buhay at hanapbuhay ng mga Pilipino. Mula sa bilyon-bilyong insertions, ghost projects, confidential funds, hanggang sa kawalan ng hustisya, isang larawan ang malinaw: matagal nang ninanakaw ang pondo ng bayan at paulit-ulit na isinasakripisyo ang kinabukasan ng kabataan.

 

Mga Panawagan

 

Panagutin ang lahat ng opisyal na sangkot sa korapsyon. Hindi sapat ang pa-imbestigasyon at press release; kailangan ng malinaw na kaso, malinaw na proseso, at malinaw na pananagutan. Ipasa ang Anti-Political Dynasty Bill! Wakasan ang sistema ng pulitika na iilan lang na pamilya at nakikinabang at sumisira sa pamahalaan ng bayan.

 

Isabatas ang transparency at accountability measures. Isapubliko at gawing tunay na independent ang Independent Commission on Infrastructure upang kilatisin at panagutin ang mga sangkot sa sistema ng korapsyon sa bansa. Walang tiwala sa mga sikretong maniobra.

 

Sa lahat ng isyu na ito, hinihikayat namin ang bawat Pilipino, lalo ang kabataan, na manindigan at makiisa. Sa Metro Manila, magsasagawa ang kabataan ng martsa mula Temple Drive, Quezon City nang 7:30 AM, patungong EDSA People Power Monument, bilang bahagi ng Trillion Peso March. Ginagawa rin ito kasabay ng higit 100 aktibidad sa labas ng Metro Manila, na pinangungunahan ng mga komunidad na direktang tinatamaan ng bagyo, pagbaha, at korapsyon sa flood control.

 

Ang buwis ng mamamayan ay para sa mamamayan at hindi para sa bulsa ng iilan. Palitang ang bulok na sistema ng pulitika para sa interes ng Panahon na para palakasin ang serbisyo publiko at tunay na magbigay ng ginhawa sa buhay ng Pilipino. ###

KORAPSYON AT DINASTIYA AY IISA: BAGUHIN ANG SISTEMA!

Ang korapsyon ay hindi lang isyung moral (kasakiman), o seasonal (panapanahon), kundi systemic. May sistemang nagsilang nito na nagresulta sa pamamayagpag ng political dynasty at normalisasyon ng patronage politics.

Mula imprastruktura hanggang ayuda, fingerprint ng mga korap na dinastiya ang makikita. Mula nasyunal hanggang lokal, makapangyarihang mga dinastiya ang naghahati sa kapangyarihan. Patunay ito na hindi pa nakakamit ng mga Pilipino ang tunay na demokrasya at kalayaang pinagbuwisan ng buhay nina Gat Andres Bonifacio at mga bayaning Katipunero.

May luma at bagong paraan ng pandarambong. Mula kolonyalismo, diktadura, at hilaw na demokrasya - ang kapangyarihan at yaman ng mga ilustrado, diktador, at modernong dinastiya – ay pareho lamang nakaw mula sa manggagawa at mamamayan.

Kung nagagawa ng mga korap na dinastiya na magnakaw ng trilyones sa kabang bayan, ito ay dahil pakiramdam nila, tulad din sila ng mga Kastila na kayang maghari ng 300 taon sa Pilipinas dahil pinapasa lang ang poder at kayamanan sa mga angkan, kapanalig, at kasabwat. Sa kulungan hind sa gobyerno ang tama nilang lugar.

Ang resulta: Korapsyon ang naging regular, habang manggagawa ay kontraktwal. Dagdag sahod ang pinigilan, habang pondo ng bayan ay bumaha sa bulsa ng mga korap.

Sapat na raw ang P500 para mairaos ng manggagawa ang noche Buena. Habang sa pamilya ng mga korap ay mansion, luxury cars, air assets, mamahaling alahas, ari-arian sa abroad, at male-maletang pera na pambili ng karangyaan at boto para mahalal at muling mahalal.

Ang sistemang ito ay dapat repormahin! Manggagawa ang gawing regular, hindi ang korapsyon! Legislated wage hike sa manggagawa, hindi legislated kickback sa mga korap!

Repormahin ang sistemang pampulitika. Dinastiya ang dapat ma-endo, hindi ang manggagawa! Isabatas ang totohanang anti-dynasty bill!

Totoong kalayaan at demokrasya, hindi dynasty forever! ###

 

BACK TO EDSA ON NOVEMBER 30! END CORRUPTION AND DYNASTY!

It is not only corruption that must end, but also the system that gave birth to it—the political dynasties and patronage politics.

 

The rejection of corruption and dynasties is the central issue of workers marching to the People Power Monument on the 162nd birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio on November 30, alongside demands for wage increases and an end to contractualization (endo).

 

Partido Manggagawa is also joining various protests across the country led by the Trillion People March Movement.

 

Corrupt politicians were able to steal trillions from the national coffers because they felt untouchable—free to deceive the people and amass wealth from government projects. This is because they know that power is monopolized by the same dynasties from national down to local levels.

 

The result: Corruption has become regular, while workers remain contractual. Wage hikes are controlled, while public funds from our taxes flood the pockets of the corrupt.

 

For workers: a ₱500 noche buena. For the corrupt: luxury cars, air assets, properties abroad, and suitcases of cash.

 

Because of corruption, public services like PhilHealth and youth education have declined, housing programs have failed, and farmers have been left impoverished.

 

Because of dynasties and corrupt politicians, projects are divided among relatives and friends, in collusion with syndicates embedded across government. Jail is the proper place for them.

This system must be reformed!

Workers should be made regular—not corruption!

Legislated wage hikes for workers—not legislated kickbacks for the corrupt!

 

Dynasties should be the ones to be “endo”—not the workers!

Freedom and democracy—not the eternal rule of political dynasties!

Noise barrage vs corruption resumes amidst climate devastations and Nov 30 prep

 

The White Friday Protest led by the Trillion Peso March Movement (TPMM) resumes today at the EDSA Shrine and other protest centers across the country. Contingents from Partido Manggagawa are participating in the protest centers including the EDSA Shrine.

 

The regular noise barrage, followed by the simultaneous ringing of church bells, forms part of the buildup toward TPMM’s major protest action on November 30.

 

The devastation wrought by Typhoon Tino in Cebu and across large parts of the Visayas and Mindanao has laid bare once again the extreme vulnerability of millions of Filipinos to disasters. Entire communities remain submerged or cut off, with homes, livelihoods, and public infrastructure destroyed. The tragedy has exposed not only the worsening impacts of the climate crisis but also the costly failures of governance — from the misuse of calamity and rehabilitation funds to widespread corruption in flood control and infrastructure projects that were supposed to protect, not endanger, the people.

 

Despite billions poured into flood control programs, substandard projects, ghost dikes, and overpriced drainage contracts have left communities defenseless against heavy rains and storm surges. TPMM condemns this cycle of disaster and corruption, where public funds line the pockets of officials and contractors instead of building real resilience for the poor.

 

TPMM demands immediate relief and justice for all victims of the recent calamities, alongside full accountability for those who profited from public works meant to prevent such disasters. The people’s noise will not stop until corruption and neglect are answered with truth and reform.
