Pro-Impeachment Groups to Hold Symbolic Appeal at Supreme Court: Bring Back the Trial to the Senate!

What: Symbolic action and media briefing urging the Supreme Court Justices to defend the Constitution and uphold their constitutional duty to ensure the Senate proceeds with the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Tindig Pilipinas Tindig Pilipinas, Nagkaisa Labor Coalition, Kalipunan ng Kilusang Masa, SIKLAB and pro-democracy groups, civil society organizations and sectoral groups assert that the inaction of the Senate on the impeachment complaint filed against VP Sara Duterte constitutes a grave threat to our democracy and a betrayal of the Constitution. The Supreme Court must act as the final guardian of constitutional order by compelling the Senate to fulfill its duty to hold an impeachment trial.

 

This symbolic action will include a formal appeal and theatrical protest, calling on the Supreme Court judges to stand with the people, not with impunity.
