Trillion Peso March Movement Launches “White Friday” Protest: A Weekly Noise Barrage and Candle Lighting Against Corruption
Manila, Philippines — The Trillion Peso March Movement (TPMM) is calling on all Filipinos across the country to unite in a powerful display of people’s outrage and hope through the “White Friday Protest,” a nationwide noise barrage and candle lighting every Friday at 6:00 PM.
The campaign kicks off with the 10.10 Launch, marking the start of a sustained citizens’ action demanding accountability and transparency in government spending and corruption cases.
“Saan ka man, sabay tayo! Palakasin pa ang ingay, ituloy ang laban! Panagutin lahat ng korap!”
“This is not just a protest — it’s a people’s vigil for truth, justice, and reform,” said the movement’s convenors.
“From homes to highways, parishes to workplaces, we’re inviting everyone to make noise and light candles until every peso of the people’s money is accounted for.”
The launch event will be highlighted by a 6:00 PM Mass at the EDSA Shrine, followed by a noise barrage, candle lighting, and the singing of Bayan Ko.
Church Support and Moral Call
The Trillion Peso March Movement hails the pastoral letter of Cardinal Jose Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, which directs all churches in the archdiocese to pray the Oratio Imperata — an obligatory prayer for the cleansing and healing of our nation amid widespread corruption.
The directive also includes the ringing of all church bells every 8:00 PM, described as “both a prophetic cry of indignation and outrage against the evil of corruption, and a resounding call to contrition and conversion.”
At 8:00 PM, the St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Scout Magbanua, Quezon City will lead a noise barrage and bell ringing, headed by Rev. Fr. Romerico Prieto, in solidarity with communities nationwide echoing the same call for truth and accountability.
Noise barrage and candle-lighting hubs will also kick off in local parishes and communities across Metro Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, and other regions nationwide.
